Staff Counsel, Criminal Legal System

Andrea serves as a Staff Attorney on Impact for Equity’s Criminal Legal Systems team.  She focuses on identifying legal tools and policy strategies to address the harms of mass incarceration.   Since 2023, she has worked with the Grassroots Alliance for Police Accountability to strengthen community oversight of policing in Chicago. 

Prior to joining Impact for Equity, Andrea served as a Deputy State Public Defender in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where she represented clients in misdemeanor and felony cases. She has also held roles at The Bronx Defenders, the National Immigrant Justice Center, the Office of the New York State Attorney General, the Children’s Law Center, and the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center. 

Andrea holds a JD from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and a BA from the University of Michigan.  She is a fluent Spanish speaker.
