Loren Jones

Loren serves as the Director of Impact for Equity’s Criminal Legal System team.  Her work includes a focus on community oversight of policing and reimagining effective strategies for creating authentic public safety for all communities.  She also provides legal, policy, and technical advice to amplify advocacy efforts by organizations and coalitions. 

Prior to joining Impact for Equity, Loren represented victims of police misconduct as an attorney at the Dvorak Law Offices.  There, she litigated or managed civil rights, criminal defense, criminal appeals, expungement, and personal injury cases in state and federal court. She has also held roles at the Illinois House of Representatives and at the People’s Law Office in Chicago.  In these roles, she has helped indigent clients from a wide range of backgrounds, including incarcerated people, domestic violence survivors, and recent immigrants and shaped public policy.   

Loren holds a JD and a BA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  At the University of Illinois, she received the Rickert Award for Excellence in Service and the Student Leadership Award for her work in student organizations and clinical law programs. Loren serves on the University of Chicago Public Safety Advisory Council, which creates a mechanism for obtaining community input on issues impacting safety and security in the Woodlawn community.
